Terms of Service

Effective date: June 12, 2026

Welcome to Meritly. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Meritly ("Meritly," "we," "us," or "our"). By using Meritly or ordering a resume, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Meritly is a professional resume-writing service. When you place an order and complete your intake form, we write a custom, ATS-friendly resume based on the information you provide and deliver it to you by email in about 15-20 minutes, as a PDF and an editable Microsoft Word (.docx) document.

2. Pricing and payment

Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply. Payment is processed by Stripe and is due in full at the time of order.

3. Your information and your resume

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide in your intake. We write your resume from what you share with us; we don't invent employers, dates, credentials, or achievements. If something in your intake is inaccurate, your resume will reflect that. You confirm that you have the right to share the information you submit.

You own the resume we deliver to you and can use it however you like — print it, edit it, share it, post it. We may keep a copy in our records as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Revisions and refunds

Resumes are custom digital work created specifically for you. If something in the resume we deliver is inaccurate or doesn't match what you submitted in your intake, tell us and we'll revise it at no charge. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and considered in good faith.

5. No guarantee of interviews or employment

Meritly helps you present your experience clearly and professionally. We do not guarantee that you will receive interviews, job offers, employment, a specific salary, or any particular outcome. Hiring decisions are made by employers based on many factors outside our control.

6. Partner organizations

Meritly works with partner organizations (community groups, schools, nonprofits, and similar) that refer people to our service. When someone you refer using your unique link orders a resume:

As a partner, you agree to promote Meritly honestly, not to make guarantees about outcomes on our behalf, not to spam or use deceptive marketing, and to comply with all applicable laws. We may suspend or end a partner account for violations of these Terms.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

8. Intellectual property

The Meritly name, logo, website, templates, and content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them except as needed to use the service.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meritly will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, or lost data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the order giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Meritly from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

12. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the service at any time if you violate these Terms or misuse the service. You may stop using the service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example, payment, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to the service or these Terms

We may update the service and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kentucky, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute that may be brought in court is the state or federal courts located in Kentucky, and you and Meritly consent to that venue.
