Privacy Policy

Meritly ("Meritly," "we," "us," or "our") is a resume-writing service operated by Meritly. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you order a resume from us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to write and deliver your resume:

• Personal and contact information you enter — your name, email address, phone number, and city.
• Career information — your work history, education, skills, certifications, licenses, languages, target job title and industry, and anything else you share to help us write your resume.
• Payment information — handled directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number; we receive a confirmation that your payment succeeded.
• Basic technical information — your IP address, browser, and similar details our hosting and security tools log to keep the site working and safe.

How we use your information

We use the information you share to:

• Write your professional resume.
• Deliver it to you by email as a PDF and editable Word document.
• Answer your questions and provide support.
• Process payments and, where applicable, pay the partner organization that referred you.
• Keep records we're required to keep for accounting, tax, and legal reasons.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the details of your resume to train AI models for anyone else's benefit.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with the service providers we need to run Meritly, and only with what they need to do their job:

• Stripe — processes your payment and, for partner orders, pays out the partner's share.
• Resend — sends you the email containing your finished resume and account-related messages.
• Supabase — securely stores your order, intake answers, and the finished resume.
• Our AI writing provider — generates the first draft of your resume from your intake answers. The provider acts as our processor and is contractually limited to providing the service.
• Partner organizations — if you came to us through a partner's referral link, we tell that partner that an order was placed through their link so they can be paid. We do not share the contents of your resume with the partner.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Meritly, our customers, or others.

How we protect your information

Your data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest, scoped access, and access logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable safeguards to protect your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your intake answers and the finished resume for as long as you may reasonably need it for revisions and re-downloads, and to meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations. After that, we delete or anonymize it. You can request earlier deletion at any time (see below).

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a request, email us at privacy@getmeritly.app. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.

You can also unsubscribe from non-essential marketing emails at any time using the link in the email. We'll still send you order-related messages (like the email containing your resume).

Children

Meritly is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

International users

Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using Meritly, you understand that your information will be transferred to those countries.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email.
